Cozy Up to Mysteries Author Visit with Mary Angela and Rosemarie Ross
If you’re a fan of cozy mysteries, you don’t need an explanation. But if you’re curious or looking to expand your reading list, with cozies the crime and detection take place in a small, socially connected community.
Think Agatha Christie. Or local authors Mary Angela and Rosemarie Ross, who will be at Siouxland Libraries’ Downtown Library, 200 North Dakota Avenue, Saturday, November 30, 2019, from 3 to 4 p.m., to talk about how they create their mysteries. Both have newly released books.
Angela is the author of the Professor Prather academic mystery series, which has been called “enjoyable” and “clever” by Publishers Weekly. The fourth and most recent book in the series, Coming Up Murder, finds Professor Emmeline Prather celebrating personal and professional accomplishments at a spring festival surrounding the exhibit of Shakespeare’s First Folio. The event brings with it a tempest more dramatic than the bard’s.
A longtime writer of inspirational romance novels, Ross’s first cozy mystery is Cobblered to Death. It features Courtney Archer who, despite the fact that she’s a pediatrician’s daughter, hosts the Cooking with the Farmer’s Daughter show. That mild deception makes her a person of interest in the death of a man who knew the truth . . . and was beaten to death with a cast-iron pan in which Archer’s cherry cobbler was baked.
Copies of their new books will be available for purchase and signing.
