Falls Park – Retaining Wall Replacement

Beginning on Tuesday, June 22, 2021, replacement of the concrete retaining wall, north of the Overlook Café in Falls Park will begin. The café and parking lot will remain open during construction.

Improvements include a new boulder retaining wall system, new ornamental railing, and sidewalk improvements.

The project is anticipated to be complete in approximately six weeks, and be substantially complete by August 1, 2021. 

The park will remain open at all times during construction.  Users are urged to use caution near construction activity.

Lane Closure – Kiwanis Avenue

Beginning on Wednesday, June 23, 2021, the outside Southbound lane and inside Northbound lane between West 12th Street and West 26th Street will be closed to allow for pavement grinding.   

South Kiwanis Avenue will remain open to two-way traffic throughout the duration of the work. Access to homes, businesses, parks and side streets will be maintained throughout to the fullest extent possible.

This work is anticipated to be complete by the end of June 2021.

Lane Closure – Tenth Street

Beginning early morning on Wednesday, June 23, 2021, the leftmost lane on East Tenth Street at Main Avenue will be closing. 

Journey Construction is pouring concrete for a retaining wall.

This work is anticipated to be complete by noon on Wednesday, June 23, 2021.

Drivers are urged to use caution and reduce their speed while travelling near the construction and may want to consider alternate routes.

Lane Closures – Sixth Street and Cleveland Avenue

Beginning on Thursday, June 24, 2021, sanitary sewer lining work will begin at the northwest corner of East Sixth Street and Cleveland Avenue.

Traffic will be restricted to one single lane with traffic control will be in place for westbound traffic along the west leg of the intersection.

This work is anticipated to be complete within five working days.

Street Closures – 54th Street North and Knob Hill Court

Beginning on Thursday, June 24, 2021, West 54th Street North will be closed between both access points to Knob Hill Court.  Knob Hill Court will also be closed to the south of 54th Street North.  Residents should use Yukon Trail and University trail for access. 

Prunty Construction will be installing new utilities and all street cuts will be backfilled at the end of the day to allow traffic to utilize both roads when crews are not actively working. 

Weather permitting, this work is anticipated to be complete that work will be completed in one week with favorable conditions.
