Schedule Change –

Intersection Lane Closures –

Louise Avenue and Shirley Avenue

 

Beginning on Sunday, September 20, 2020, between 6:00 p.m. and 6:30 a.m. traffic will be reduced to one lane in each direction through the intersection of Louise Avenue and Shirley Avenue to allow crews to perform concrete pavement patching. The lanes closed within the intersection will vary daily as crews progress with the repairs, however, one lane of traffic in each direction will be maintained at all times while work is occurring. All lanes will be open to traffic between 6:30 a.m. and 6:00 p.m.

 

Weather permitting, this work is anticipated to be completed within one week.

 

Drivers are urged to use caution and reduce their speed while travelling near the construction area and may want to consider alternate routes.

 

Lane Closure - Kiwanis Avenue

 

Beginning on Monday, September 21, 2020, North Kiwanis Avenue will be reduced to one lane between Granite Lane and Interstate 90 to allow crews to perform utility work. Flaggers will be in place to control traffic through the work zone.

  

Weather permitting, this is work is anticipated to be complete within one week.

Lane Closure – Tenth Street

 

Beginning on Monday, September 21, 2020, the outside westbound lane of East Tenth Street will be closed at Sneve Avenue to allow crews to perform curb and gutter repairs. One lane of traffic will be maintained at all times. Eastbound traffic will not be affected.

 

Weather permitting, this work is anticipated to be complete within one day.

Intersection Closure –

Sixth Street and Lowell Avenue

 

Beginning on Monday September 21, 2020, work will begin at the intersection of East Sixth Street and Lowell Avenue in preparation for the future repair of a 20 inch watermain. Crews will excavate and expose the existing watermain to determine the limits of the repair needed. Once the limits have been determined, repair of the watermain will be completed early this fall.

 

The intersection of Sixth Avenue and Lowell Avenue will be fully closed to traffic with

Detours on Cliff Avenue, Tenth Street, and Cleveland Avenue.

 

This work is anticipated to be complete within five working days.

Planned Signal Outage –

37th Street and Minnesota Avenue

 

Beginning at 9:00 a.m. on September 22, 2020, the traffic signal at the intersection of West 37th Street and Minnesota Avenue will be dark while crews work to install a new signal cabinet.  Stop signs will be erected on 37th Street and the intersection will function as a two-way stop for the duration of the work.  

 

Action Electric will be performing the work and plan to have the signal fully operational by 11:00 a.m. on the same day.

Lane Closure - 41st Street

 

Beginning on Tuesday, September 22, 2020, the outside eastbound lane of West 41st Street will be closed at Shirley Avenue to allow construction crews to pave the newly constructed turn lane. 

 

This will be completed by Lloyd Companies in conjunction with the redevelopment of the property adjacent to 41st Street.

 

This work is anticipated to be complete by Tuesday afternoon. Drivers are encouraged to utilize other mall entrances to visit the Empire Mall.

Lane Closure – 57th Street

 

Beginning on Wednesday, September 23, 2020, the southernmost lanes of West 57th Street from Galway Avenue to Tea Ellis Road will be closed.  Traffic will be reduced to one lane in each direction. Access to driveways and side streets will be maintained.

 

H&W Construction will be installing underground sanitary sewer pipeline.

 

This work is anticipated to be complete by October 21, 2020.
