Lane Closures – 41st Street between Sparta Avenue to Faith Avenue

Beginning on Monday, May 4, 2020, eastbound and westbound traffic will be reduced to one lane along East 41st Street from Faith Avenue to Sparta Avenue for the 41st Street Widening Project.

This project consists of an additional west-bound lane along 41st Street between Sparta (Copper Creek) Avenue and Faith Avenue, which includes concrete curb and gutter, asphalt paving, as well as work at each intersection to reconstruct concrete fillets and sidewalks for ADA compliance. Also, new traffic signals will be installed at the intersection of 41st and Faith and 41st and Sparta (Copper Creek) with this project.

The 41st Street lane widening project is anticipated to be complete in late June of 2020.

Traffic signals at the Faith Avenue and Sparta Avenue (Copper Creek) intersections will be completed and operational in September of 2020.

Street Closure – 12th Street

Beginning on Monday, May 4, 2020, West 12th Street will be closed between Grange Avenue and Walts Avenue as well as the intersection of 12th Street and Menlo Avenue. 

This is the first phase of a project to reconstruct 12th Street between Grange Avenue and Summit Avenue.  Improvements will include upgrading the water main, sanitary sewer, storm sewer, accessible curb ramps, and asphalt surfacing.

This phase is anticipated to be complete this fall.

Drivers are urged to use caution and reduce their speed while travelling near the construction area and may want to consider alternate routes.

Street Closure – 13th Street

Beginning on Monday, May 4, 2020, West 13th Street will be closed between Phillips Avenue and Main Avenue to allow crews to perform concrete pavement patching. Access to businesses and parking ramps will be maintained. Pedestrian traffic will not affected during construction.

Weather permitting, this work is anticipated to be complete within one week.

Lane Closures – Rice Street from Cliff Avenue to Cleveland Avenue

Beginning on Monday, May 4, 2020, the City of Sioux Falls Street Department will be milling and overlay along East Rice Street from Cliff Avenue to Cleveland Avenue. There will be periodic lane closures, however, Rice Street will remain open to traffic. Traffic control will be in place.

This work is anticipated to be completed within two weeks.

Lane Closures - Southeastern Avenue

Beginning on Monday, May 4, 2020, milling and overlay will begin along the west side Southeastern Avenue from 49th Street to Klondike Trail. Traffic will be maintained on the east side of Southeastern Avenue.

The east legs of Marson Drive and Woodland Hills Road will remain closed to complete storm sewer work.

Once work is complete along the west side of Southeaster Avenue, milling and asphalt operations will move to the east side of the roadway.

Southeastern Avenue is scheduled to be fully open to traffic in mid-May.

Street Closure – Fourth Street

Beginning on Monday, May 4, 2020, East Fourth Street east of Cliff Avenue to the intersection of Fourth Street and Sherman Avenue will be closed to through traffic. This is to allow construction work to be done for Phase 1 of the Highland Addition Street Reconstruction and Utility Improvements. Traffic control and ADA access control will be in place at the intersection of Fourth Street and Sherman.

This work will include removal of the existing pavement with storm sewer, watermain, and sanitary sewer improvements. New curb and gutter will be installed, also ADA compliant sidewalk ramps will be constructed at Fourth Street and Sherman Avenue.  Asphalt pavement will be placed.

Phase 1 of this project is anticipated to be complete mid-June 2020.
