In-Person Absentee Voting Begins Monday, March 30, 2020, at New Location

In-person absentee voting for the upcoming City of Sioux Falls Municipal/Sioux Falls School Board Election will begin on Monday, March 30, 2020, at the Minnehaha County Election Center, 220 West Sixth Street. (Note: this is a new location and is located between the County Administration Building and the Old Courthouse Museum.)

Voters may vote from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday, as well as on Saturday, April 11, from 8 a.m. to 12 noon. In-person absentee voting ends at 5 p.m. on Monday, April 13. Voters are urged to follow CDC guidelines to mitigate the spread of COVID-19; staff will also assist with this at the Election Center. Voters are encouraged to bring their own blue or black pen and review their sample ballot prior to arriving by viewing it on the Secretary of State’s Voter Information Portal at sdsos.gov or by going to siouxfalls.org/election.

Voters are also strongly encouraged to vote absentee by mail as an alternative to in-person absentee voting. To do this, you must first submit an absentee application to your county auditor. Go to www.siouxfalls.org/election and click on “Absentee Voting” to find the form and your auditor’s address.

The deadline for voter registration for the upcoming Tuesday, April 14, election is also on Monday, March 30. You must be registered by 5 p.m. on March 30 in order to vote in the upcoming election.

Residents may register to vote at: their County Auditor’s office; the City Finance or City Clerk’s office; driver’s license station; military recruitment offices; public assistance agencies providing food stamps, TANF, or WIC; and the Department of Human Services offices which provide assistance to the disabled. Please call ahead to any of these locations to ensure they are open.
