Visit Louisa May Alcott’s Orchard House Without Leaving Sioux Falls
Fans of Louisa May Alcott’s Little Women and other classic novels are in for a captivating living history experience on Tuesday, May 7, 2019, at Siouxland Libraries’ Downtown Library, 200 North Dakota Avenue.
From 6:30 to 7:30 p.m., they can visit the Alcott family house in Concord, MA, via Skype. Jan Turnquist, Executive Director of Orchard House, will take visitors behind the scenes in her role as Alcott.
She’ll share stories from her life: family friendships with Thoreau and Emerson; her unconventional upbringing in poverty; and the family love that inspired her to write an American classic.
From the youngest reader to the most sophisticated Alcott scholar to First Lady Laura Bush, audiences have acclaimed Turnquist's performances, which are geared for ages 6 to 106. This interactive presentation is an inspiring experience for the mind and heart.
