Change Your Clock, Change Your Battery
Sioux Falls Fire Rescue would like to remind you to check your smoke alarms and carbon monoxide detectors and change the batteries. A good time to remember to do this is when you set your clocks forward an hour at the beginning of Daylight Savings Time on March 10, 2019.
The National Fire Protection Association reports from 2012 to 2016 that 68 percent of smoke alarms that failed to operate had missing, disconnected, or dead batteries. This reinforces the importance of taking this time each year to test your smoke alarms and carbon monoxide detectors and replace the batteries.
