Free Summer Events at Family Park
Despite the flood and recent rain, we are still having fun on the water in Family Park with free summer events.
- South Dakota Game, Fish & Parks and Sioux Falls Parks and Recreation are teaming up again to offer free fishing at Family Park from 9 a.m. to 12 noon on Saturdays, June 1 to July 27. Fishing rods and bait will be provided on a first-come, first-served basis. There is no registration required.
- Sioux Falls Parks and Recreation, South Dakota Canoe & Kayak Association, and Sun ʼN Fun Specialty Sports are partnering to host the seventh-annual Paddling Fair at Family Park. Everyone is invited to the park on Sunday, June 9, from 1 to 4 p.m. to try kayaking, canoeing, and stand-up paddle boarding. The event is free and for all ages.
Participants can register on site. Event partners will provide all equipment needed on a first-come, first-served basis such as kayaks, canoes, paddle boards, and life jackets. This is a great way for beginners to try out a new sport and possibly find a new hobby.
Family Park is located just north of the intersection at West 12th Street and South Ellis Road.
