Old Yankton Road Improvements

Beginning on Tuesday, September 3, 2019, Old Yankton Road from Ralph Rogers Road to Abbott Place will be closed to traffic for isolated pavement repairs. Old Yankton Road will open to traffic from Abbott Place north to 57th Street. 

This work is anticipated to be complete by mid-September of 2019.

Drivers are urged to use caution and reduce speeds while traveling near the construction area and may want to consider alternate routes.

Lane Closures - Kiwanis Avenue

Beginning on Tuesday, September 3, 2019, various lane closures will be in place on both northbound and southbound South Kiwanis Avenue between 18th Street and 33rd Street to allow crews to perform concrete pavement repairs. The lane closure locations will vary as the work progresses and at least one lane of traffic will be maintained in both directions at all times.

Weather permitting, this work is anticipated to be completed within two weeks.

Sidewalk Closures – Various Downtown Locations

Beginning on Tuesday morning, September 3, 2019, there will be various sidewalk closures downtown between the boundaries of Fifth Street to the north, Reid Street to the east, 13th Street to the south, and Main Avenue to the west. There will be sidewalk detours in place to help navigate around the closed areas.

VIKOR Teleconstruction will be installing new light poles with wireless communication equipment.

Each individual sidewalk closure is anticipated to be approximately one week with the pole installations anticipated to be complete at the end of September.

Sanitary Sewer and Street Improvements – Southeastern Avenue and Woodland Hills Road

Beginning on Tuesday, September 3, 2019, Woodland Hills Road will be closed at Southeastern Avenue to allow crews to install a new sanitary sewer manhole. Motorists should utilize 33rd Street as an alternate route.Work in the intersection is anticipated to be complete in approximately 10 working days.

Lane Closure – 57th Street

Beginning on Wednesday, September 4, 2019, the center turn lane and inside westbound lane of West 57th Street will be closed between I-229 and Old Yankton Road to allow crews to perform concrete pavement repairs.

Once work is complete in the center turn lane and inside westbound lane, work will move to the outside westbound lane. One lane of westbound traffic will be maintained at all times.  Eastbound traffic will not be impacted by this work.

This work is anticipated to be complete in approximately two weeks.
