Street Closure - Connie Avenue

Beginning on Monday, April 22, 2019, Connie Avenue will be closed south of 69th Street as part of the reconstruction project for 69th Street between Louise Avenue and Medical Court.  Motorists should utilize Mogen Avenue or Louise Avenue as alternate routes.

Connie Avenue south of 69th Street is expected to remain closed through mid-summer and the project is expected to be complete this fall.

Drivers are urged to use caution and reduce their speed while travelling near the construction area and may want to consider alternate routes.

Lane Closure - Cliff Avenue at Tomar Road

Beginning on Monday, April 22, 2019, crews will begin the fence and sidewalk removal on the west side of Cliff Avenue between Tomar Road and 49th Street. The right turn lane onto Tomar Road from Cliff Avenue will be closed between the hours of 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Traffic on Cliff Avenue will be maintained. Work is expected to be completed in two weeks.

Main Avenue Road Diet Begins

Beginning on Monday, April 22, 2019, construction will begin on the east sidewalk of Main Avenue from Sixth Street to Eighth Street. Work will include removing sidewalk and installing streetscape amenities. The sidewalk will be closed in this area, as will the parking spaces, immediately adjacent to the construction zone.

Work is expected to be completed by the end of May.

Street Closure – East Third Street

Beginning on Monday, April 22, 2019, at 7 a.m., East Third Street will be closed between Nesmith Avenue and Franklin Avenue. Traffic will be detoured.

Soukup Construction will be performing utility work and is anticipated to be completed by the end of day on April 29, 2019.

Lane Closures - South Western Avenue

Beginning on Monday, April 22, 2019, both southbound lanes of Western Avenue will be closed at 46th Street to allow crews to construct storm drainage system improvements. Southbound traffic will be maintained in the center turn lane. Northbound traffic will not be impacted.

Pedestrian traffic will need to use the east side of Western Avenue during this work.

All work is expected to be completed within two weeks with favorable weather conditions.

Bike Trail Reconstruction

Beginning on Monday, April 22, 2019, the bike trail on the south side of the Big Sioux River from Cherry Rock Park through River Boulevard Greenway Park, and Beadle Greenway Park will be closed for reconstruction of the trail and railroad crossing improvements. Bicycle and pedestrian traffic will be detoured through Cherry Rock Park and Beadle Greenway Park on the north side of the Big Sioux River along the main bike trail loop.

The new trail will be 12 foot wide and constructed of asphalt and concrete surfacing. The improvements will enhance the user experience by creating a smoother ride, better sightlines, improved drainage, and upgraded rail crossings. 

The play equipment, basketball court, and picnic shelter located within Beadle Greenway Park will remain open during construction. All park features can be accessed via Eighth Avenue. Park users are urged to use caution near construction activity.

All work is expected to be substantially complete and the trail reopened by the end of the summer, pending favorable weather conditions.

Lane Closures - Arrowhead Parkway

Beginning on Monday, April 22, 2019, the outside westbound lane and the inside eastbound lane of Arrowhead Parkway will be closed between Gordon Drive and Highline Avenue as crews begin the last phase of work on this multi-year project. As work progresses, the lanes closed and the location of the work will vary, but two lanes of traffic will be maintained in each direction at all times. Motorists should remain alert to changing roadway conditions and reduce their speed

Work remaining this year includes sidewalk and median construction, median landscaping, final roadway striping, and final grading work. This project is scheduled to be complete by early summer.

Street Closure – Second Street

Work originally scheduled to begin on Monday, April 15, 2019 on Second Street has been rescheduled to begin on Monday, April 22, 2019.

Beginning on Monday, April 22, Second Street will be closed between Main Avenue and Phillips Avenue. With the existing closure on Phillips Avenue at Second Street the detour for Phillips Avenue will become Sixth Street, Weber Avenue, and Falls Park Drive.

Lloyd Companies is reconstructing Second Street and is expected to be finished by the end of June 2019. The utility work on Phillips Avenue is expected to be completed in two weeks.

Ellis Road Reconstruction 22nd Street Closure

Beginning on Monday, April 22, 2019, the intersection of Ellis Road and 22nd Street will be closed to all traffic to allow for construction of the intersection.

The Ellis Road and Stoney Creek intersection will remain open during construction of the 22nd Street intersection. Ellis Road will remain open between 41st Street and 26th Street during this work.

Ellis Road is to be completed and opened to traffic in the early fall of 2019.
