Renowned Native Artist to Present Children’s Program at Siouxland Libraries’ Downtown Library

World-renowned Oglala Lakota artist and children’s author Donald Montileaux will read his book Muskrat and Skunk (Sinkpe na Maka): a Lakota Drum Story, on Thursday, April 25, 2019, 4 to 5:30 p.m., at Siouxland Libraries’ Downtown Library, 200 North Dakota Avenue. Following the storytime, children will decorate their own 3-D horses.

His book Tatanka and Other Legends of the Lakota People was selected by the South Dakota Humanities Council as the 2019 Young Readers One Book South Dakota. Montileaux’s art has been presented in galleries throughout the United States. He enjoys helping children develop an appreciation of art and history through his workshops.
