Great News for Customers at Siouxland Libraries’ Hartford Branch
What do you do when your local library is open just part time and you have:
- finished every book you checked out
- learned that a popular hold is ready for pick-up
- want to print a couple of things, or use a computer
- need a special recipe for an unexpected celebration
You just make do until it opens again. Unless you use the Hartford Branch, 119 North Main Avenue, Suite A. Thanks to innovative technology, the library now offers Expanded Access opportunities for customers to use materials and resources outside of standard operating hours without staff being present.
Siouxland Libraries is among the first in the nation to use the technology.
“We are committed to improving citizens’ access to library resources,” says Siouxland Libraries’ Director Jodi Fick, noting that Expanded Access has increased Hartford’s “open” hours from 21 to 54 per week. “That has more than doubled the number of hours the public can use the library.”
Customers can sign up with staff during regular hours which are: 2–7 p.m. Tuesdays–Thursdays and 10 a.m.–1 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays.
Expanded Access, which requires a current library account in good standing, is free. Hours are 8 a.m.–5 p.m. on Mondays; 8 a.m.–2 p.m. on Tuesdays-Thursdays; and 8–10 a.m. and 1–5 p.m. on Fridays.
