Works by Sioux Falls artist Joan Putman will be featured at the Downtown Library, 200 North Dakota Avenue, through March 31, 2018. The Library Gallery is open during regular hours: 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Thursday; 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday; 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday; and 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday.
Putman says her early fascination with the masters’ artworks inspired her to draw and paint in the traditional manner. Among the pieces for which she has won acclaim are 8-inch x 10-inch graphite portraits of the 63 residents of Raymond, SD. The project, All of Raymond, was featured in the South Dakota Magazine.
Putman has received Best of Show, first, second, and honorable mention in Dakota Masterworks competitions and has painted numerous murals.
