Get Ready to Move Well! Free Community Fitness Festival on Saturday, August 11

Live Well Sioux Falls, a program of the Sioux Falls Health Department, invites you to the first-ever Move Well Sioux Falls event on Saturday, August 11, 2018, at Riverdale Park from 9 a.m. until 12 noon.

This fun morning of free activities for all ages is designed to promote all of the great resources in Sioux Falls that can help keep you physically active every day—from our outstanding parks and bike trail system to the many gyms and fitness activities in the community. You can choose from more than 80 activities being offered throughout the morning as 15- to 20-minute sampler classes.

Here are just a few of the ways you’ll be able to Move Well at Riverdale Park: barbell technique, boot camp, chair yoga, core strength, Country Heat, Dynamic Warm-Up, HIIT (high-intensity interval training), jazz funk dance, martial arts, pickleball, Pilates, self-defense, stretching, stretching for runners, tai chi, toning, traditional Native games, WERQ, yoga sculpt, and Zumba.

In addition, there will be a special kids’ area with games from Hy-Vee KidsFit™ and activities from Wings Gymnastics Academy. Players from the Sioux Falls Canaries will also be at the kids’ area starting at 10 a.m., so kids, bring your gloves to play catch with the Canaries!

If you are a 5K fan, make plans to run or walk in The Blue Move 5K to benefit patients at Falls Community Health. The race begins at 8:30 a.m. on August 11 before the Move Well Sioux Falls activities begin. Colorectal cancer is the second leading cause of death from cancer for men and women combined, but it is treatable with early detection. The registration fees from The Blue Move 5K will be used to help fund colonoscopies for patients in need.

The event also needs volunteers! For event, race, or volunteer information, you can email, call 605-367-8286, or go to the Live Well website at
