Structure Fire at 325 North Blauvelt Avenue

At approximately 9:15 p.m. on Saturday, March 31, 2018, Sioux Falls Fire Rescue responded to a report of a structure fire at 325 North Blauvelt Avenue.

First arriving crews encountered smoke and fire coming from the first and second floor of a two-story multi-family building. Fire crews made entry into the structure and extinguished the fire in two hours. There were no occupants in the building at the time of the fire.

There were no civilian or firefighter injuries.

Fire crews will be working the fire scene through Sunday morning.

Sioux Falls Fire Rescue responded with five fire trucks, three support vehicles, and 20 firefighters. Sioux Falls Fire Rescue was assisted on scene by Sioux Falls Police, Paramedics Plus, American Red Cross, MidAmerican Energy, and Xcel Energy.

The building did not have a sprinkler system or working smoke detectors.

Sioux Falls Fire Rescue would like to remind residents to test their smoke detectors monthly, check the detectors’ expiration dates, and change the batteries when you change your clocks.
