Marion Road Water Main

Project Update 4/29/2020

  • Contractor started construction mid-November and ended mid-January.
  • Construction will resume the week of May 4th.

Phase 1

  1. Water main installation between University Trail and 54th Street
  2. Water main installation between 54th Street and Yukon Trail
  3. Water main installation between Yukon Trail and Benson Road
  4. Installation of culvert at 54th Street

  1. Water main installation across Marion Road at 54th Street
  2. Water main installation across Marion Road at Jans Drive
  3. Water main installation across Marion Road at Yukon Trail
  4. Replacement of existing surfacing

Commuter Route Information

Phase 1

  • The Contractor plans to resume work on Phase 1 between Benson Rd and Yukon Trail starting the week of May 4th, weather permitting.
  • They expect to complete Phase 1 by the end of that week.
  • During construction, two-way traffic will be maintained on Marion Road with the west shoulder of the road closed.
  • The south bound lane will be shifted over to allow water main installation in the west ditch.
  • There will be a lane closure on the west side of the Marion Road and Benson Road intersection while they tie-in the new water main to the existing.

Phase 2

  • Work is anticipated to begin the week of May 11 after completing tie-in at Marion Road and Benson Road.
  • During constructon, the Contractor will be closing Marion Road for short periods of time to allow for the water main to cross Marion Road.
  • During the road closures, traffic will be diverted to Career Avenue at 60th Street N. and Benson Road.

Project Summary:

This project consists of installation of 24” water main along Marion Road between Benson Road and University Trail, removal and replacement of storm sewer culverts, removal and replacement of existing surfacing, and site restoration. The project is being completed to improve service and reliability in the area.
