Patient Financial Navigator Job Opportunities

Rate: $17.00 per hour

The City of Sioux Falls Health Department is seeking a part-time Patient Financial Navigator to provide education on financial and technological services to patients of Falls Community Health. This is a part-time, non-benefitted position that will work up to 28 hours per week based on clinic needs.

The goal of this position is to proactively work with patients and/or families, particularly the uninsured or under-insured, to help them understand their financial and technological options to improve their healthcare experience. The Patient Financial Navigator will be expected to help patients increase their financial literacy by educating and supporting the patient on their financial options for healthcare costs, such as participating in the sliding fee program, signing up for insurance coverage, etc.  The navigator may also help with digital access and equity by assisting patients with setting up their patient portal, online appointment check-in, etc.

This position will work very closely with billing specialists, health insurance navigators, care coordinators and the clinical teams. Additional duties include the ability to schedule, confirm and register patients for clinic appointments, scan and maintain patient medical records, arrange patient transportation and coordinate access to care and disease prevention.

Training will be provided for all job duties.

Qualifications and Skills:

Well qualified candidates will have experience working with under-served populations, a capability and willingness to obtain a working knowledge of billing concepts and strong customer service skills.

Bi-lingual preferred
