HIV Prevention Outreach Worker - Health Job Opportunities
Rate: $17.77 - $29.39 per hour dependent on licensure and experience
The City of Sioux Falls Health Department is accepting applications for a part-time HIV Prevention Outreach Worker. This is a part-time, non-benefited flexible position involving 15 – 28 hours per week, Monday- Friday.
This position provides public health education and clinical testing for HIV and sexually transmitted infections (STIs). Duties and responsibilities include delivery of HIV and STI testing, treatment of positive STIs (if indicated) and provision of educational information to stakeholders. The position also works closely with the State of South Dakota Department of Health to conduct contact investigations for partners of those who tested positive for certain STIs. Training will be provided for all job duties.
The applicant should be comfortable working autonomously to provide clinical care as well as delivering public health education to diverse audiences. Participation and in-state travel to quarterly HIV Prevention meetings is expected (expenses will be paid by the organization). The applicant is expected to collaborate and network effectively with other community agencies to provide services to the target population(s).
The applicant must have a current and valid license in the state of South Dakota as a registered medical assistant, licensed practical nurse (LPN) or a licensed registered nurse (RN) and be able to work under a physician’s standing orders. The qualified applicant should have an interest in public health, under-served communities and disease prevention.
