Highland Street and Utility Improvements – Phase 2

Project Update 9/16/2021

  • Pearl Street from Sherman Avenue to Wayland Avenue, and Wayland Avenue from 4th Street to Pearl Street is closed to traffic.
  • The old surfacing has been removed.
  • Residents along these streets do not have access to their driveways and will need to park on side streets. 
  • Crews will begin replacing sanitary sewer on Thursday of this week.
  • Once that is completed, they will begin replacing watermain. 

Commuter Route Information:  

  • Sherman Avenue is open to traffic. 
  • Pearl Street from Sherman Avenue to Wayland Avenue, and Wayland Avenue from 4th Street to Pearl Street is closed to traffic. 

Project Milestones 

  1. Phase 1:  Sherman Avenue from 4th Street to 5th Street
  2. Phase 2:  Pearl Street from Sherman Avenue to Wayland Avenue & Wayland Avenue from 4th Street to Pearl Street.
  3. Phase 3:  Wayland Avenue from Pearl Street to 5th Street.
  4. Phase 4:  6th & Lowell Intersection

$1,453,527.47 

Project Summary:

The project includes a variety of improvements including the removal and replacement of the curb & gutter, pavement, sanitary sewer, watermain, and storm sewer. The accessible curb ramps will also be replaced.  The project will be constructed in three phases in order to maintain access to residents as much as possible.
