Siouxland Libraries Hosts ‘Grow with Google’ Digital Skills Trainings

As part of the statewide “Grow with Google’ South Dakota campaign, visiting Google presenters and coaches hosted the free October 29, 2019 event at Siouxland Libraries’ Downtown Library. The event helped local businesses and job seekers sharpen their digital skills and create economic opportunity using free Google resources to find the jobs they want, advance their careers and grow their businesses.

Siouxland Libraries’ director Jodi Fick voiced appreciation. “We're excited to see the lasting effect the education will bring to our community. We plan to fully utilize our partnership with Google and maximize their resources to make sure Sioux Falls and the surrounding communities are well equipped for today's digital world.”

“The ‘Grow with Google’ event was really great for small business leaders,” said Tyler Patch, who recently took over local business QwixMix, which makes windshield washer solutions. “The workshops were a great starting point in building our online business. and the coaching sessions were helpful to continue working on specific tools we can use to grow our businesses and expand our impact.”

Area nonprofits―libraries, government agencies, educational institutions and more―were also introduced to the Google Partner Program; a free network that provides a range of training content, tools, promotional materials and best practices to continue sharing ‘Grow with Google’ resources with their community.

“South Dakota is home to successful companies in the retail, finance, and healthcare industries—all while encouraging a strong entrepreneurial spirit,” said Grow with Google spokesperson Peter Schottenfels. “These workshops build upon this foundation by providing small business owners and job seekers more resources to grow economic opportunities across South Dakota.”
