Biography

Curt Soehl’s Sioux Falls roots go back a long time. Both his grandfather, Ralph Morris, and father were employed at the John Morrell Company (Smithfield Foods). Grandfather Ralph was a union leader in the 60s, 70s, and 80s, and a community activist during his retirement years.

Curt and his wife Tammi have made Sioux Falls their home since 1980. The Soehl’s have two daughters, Alison and Amanda who are nurses at Sanford Health and one son, Matt who is an entrepreneur. Curt and Tammi have eight grandchildren.

Curt worked for 20 years as a member of the Sioux Falls Fire Department, retiring as a Captain. He is currently employed as a district manager for South Dakota Farmers Union Insurance.

Curt currently serves as a member of the Sioux Falls Sports Authority Board and has served as a neighborhood block watch captain, president Sioux Falls Trades and Labor, a coach and board member of Sioux Falls Youth Hockey, and a coach in the Sioux Empire Fast Pitch Softball Association.

In his spare time, Curt enjoys hunting, fishing, golf, and restoring old vehicles.
