8th Street Bridge Rehabilitation and Greenway Improvements

Project Update 2/12/2021  

  • The bridge is now open to both vehicular and pedestrian traffic.
  • The bike trail on the east and west sides of the river will remain closed throughout the winter as crews continue to work on the Greenway improvements.

  1. Road and bike trail closures and detours begin
  2. Removals of the surfacing work
  3. Private utility relocation
  4. Construction of bridge access roads and cofferdams
  5. Bridge fill removal
  6. Bridge rehabilitation improvements
  7. Concrete repairs along 8th Street

  9. Bridge fill placement
  10. Open roadway
  11. Greenway and bike trail improvements
  12. Final project completion

Commuter Route Information:

  • Detour route will be Phillips Ave, 6th Street and Weber Avenue or Main Avenue to 11th Street and Franklin Avenue

Project Summary:

This project includes rehabilitation of the 8th Street bridge, watermain replacement, alley and Greenway improvements, sidewalk improvements, bridge lighting and construction of concrete street surfacing and concrete patching.
