17th Street and Walts Avenue Improvements

Project Update 7/30/2021 

  • Over the last couple of weeks, the contractor has completed one of two bores under the railroad tracks, and has made significant progress on the underground utility installation. 
  • Work on the underground utilities will continue for the next few weeks.
  • Work on 17th Street between Menlo Avenue and Walts Avenue is now scheduled to begin on Monday, August 2.

Commuter Route Information: 

  • Walts Avenue is closed between 12th Street and 14th Street.
  • 17th Street will be closed from Menlo Avenue to Walts Avenue beginning on Monday, August 2.

Project Summary:

Walts Avenue will include surface removal, installation of new water main, sanitary sewer, and street lights, placement of new asphalt surfacing, and accessible curb ramp improvements at the railroad crossing. 

17th Street will include asphalt surface removal, new asphalt surfacing, and accessible ramp improvements at Menlo Avenue.
