SATURDAY, JANUARY 5

 9 a.m. SPENCER PARK Frosty Frolics 5K and 10K Walk/Run Join the fun and competition of this frosty morning run. Races will be a 5K and 10K. Runners will follow the path along the Big Sioux River. Turn-around points will be noted along the route. Runners who are registered by December 19 will receive a T-shirt. Don’t forget to wear your Frosty costume; costumes will be judged at 8:45 a.m. Gift cards will be awarded to the costume winners. Runner check-in and day-of registration will be available starting at 8 a.m. Cost is $5 per person.

 10 a.m. to 12 noon FAMILY PARK Ice Fishing Frenzy, in partnership with The Outdoor Campus, this event offers fun-filled outdoor family time. Ice fishing poles will be available on a first-come, first-served basis; you are welcome to bring your own. If needed, we will drill holes for those individuals participating in the activity. All ages welcome. Free. Registration required.

11 a.m., 12 noon PRAIRIE WEST LIBRARY Storytime and Activities. It’s cold outside, come in for fun! Storytime at 10:30 a.m. Hot chocolate, crafts, and activities to follow.
11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.  MARY JO WEGNER ARBORETUM Guided Snowshoe Tour for Beginners. SFPR is collaborating with The Outdoor Campus to off er a snowshoeing activity that will teach you the fundamentals of the sport of snowshoeing and allow you to spend time outdoors in the winter. The number of snowshoes available is limited; please sign up early. Group walks will leave every hour starting at 11 a.m., with the last group departing at 2 p.m.

1 p.m.   TOMAR PARK Fatbike Ride, partnering with Falls Area Singletrack (FAST) and Falls Area Bicyclists (FAB). Bring your bike out and meet at the Tomar Park parking lot. We will ride to Falls Park weather permitting. FAST and FAB will provide a frosty frozen treat at the end of the ride. Free. No registration required.
7:30 to 9:30 p.m.  SCHEELS ICEPLEX Teen Cosmic Skate. Come ice skate and socialize with your friends at our teen cosmic skate. Ages 14–19. This event will be held at the Scheels IcePlex and will be a fun-filled night of ice skating, grooving to a DJ, and playing games on the ice. Registration and payment will take place on the night of the event at the Scheels IcePlex. $5 entry/skate rental. Music provided.

SUNDAY, JANUARY 6

1 to 3 p.m. GREAT BEAR RECREATION PARK Homewood Suites by Hilton Ski and Snowboard Races benefiting Make-A-Wish. Register 9 a.m.–12 noon. Races start at 1 p.m. Open to public.
1 to 3 p.m.  MEMORIAL ICE RINK Sleigh Rides around the park provided by McCrossan Boys Ranch.
