City Launches PARK SMARTER™ App

Smart parking meters in Sioux Falls just got smarter with the addition of the PARK SMARTER™ mobile app. PARK SMARTER™ offers parking customers a time-saving and convenient payment option when parking downtown.

The City soft launched the app in late 2018 for downtown parking ramps. Since then, the reach of the app has expanded to include many downtown parking meters. Soft launching the app to the public will help the City gain appropriate feedback to ensure potential bugs and issues are worked out before the official rollout, planned for August 2019.

“We are excited to pilot this new technology. Utilizing the time-saving payment option and enhanced features provides a better experience for our residents,” said Jason Reisdorfer, Director of Innovation and Technology. “Since soft launching the app, we’ve worked out many of the kinks and are excited to bring the public along with us as we finalize the app.”

Simply download the PARK SMARTER™ app from Google Play (Android) or the App Store (Apple). Setting up the PARK SMARTER™ app is easy. Not only do you save time paying, the app offers the following enhanced features:

  • Pay and extend parking sessions remotely
  • Real-time parking expiration notifications
  • Parking Finder tool
  • Multiple vehicles and credit cards under one account
  • Single sign-on registration
  • A record of your payments
  • Emailed parking receipts
  • No convenience fees

“The PARK SMARTER™ app is part of the City’s efforts to innovate and provide user-friendly and convenient services to the community,” said Parking Manager Matt Nelson. “We’re continually upgrading our parking system to make parking easier.”

The Sioux Falls parking system is an enterprise fund with all parking revenue reinvested into the downtown parking system. Public Parking manages more than 2,500 off-street and 1,000 on‑street parking spaces. The PARK SMARTER™ app will work at more than 250 of the City’s smart meters and at the Washington Pavilion parking ramp.
