—Board Vacancy—Human Relations Commission
Mayor Paul TenHaken has announced a vacancy to the Human Relations Commission (HRC).
The HRC enforces Chapter 98 of the City’s ordinances, which prohibits discrimination in employment, housing, public service, public accommodation, labor unions, financial institutions, and insurance companies on the basis of race, color, creed, religion, sex, national origin, ancestry, disability, and familial status (in housing only). The Commission receives complaints and conducts investigations pertaining to alleged discrimination. The Commission also sponsors Compassionate Sioux Falls, which recognizes individuals and organizations for compassionate acts in the community.
The HRC is composed of 11 members that are appointed to a five-year term by the Mayor with the advice and consent of the City Council. Monthly meetings are held the third Thursday of the month at 12 noon in the Commission Room at City Hall.
Interested persons should have a strong commitment to public service and to the mission of the HRC. To apply, please log on to www.siouxfalls.org/boards-commissions to submit or download the application. For more information, please contact Julie Wilson in the Mayor’s Office at 367-8827.
