Downtown Library Book Talk to Focus on Great American Read Monsters and Villains

Celebrate 200 years of Monsters and Villains, Tuesday, October 9, 2018, 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Siouxland Libraries Downtown Library, 200 North Dakota Avenue. Augustana English Professor Darcie Rives-East will explore the continuing influence of Mary Wollstonecraft Shelley’s Frankenstein, one of the Great American Read books, on modern-day monsters and villains.

Rives-East teaches a survey course in American literature as well as upper-level seminars on early and modern American literature. Her interests include women’s and ethnic studies and popular culture, with a particular emphasis on speculative and Gothic literature and film.
