Missing Juvenile Located Safe

On May 2, 2018, at approximately 5:30 p.m., the Sioux Falls Police Department responded to Yankton Trail Park, 3901 South Minnesota Avenue, for the report of a missing 16-year-old Autistic male who functions at an eight- to ten-year-old level. He was last seen in the park by family several hours prior to contacting 911, and there was a large soccer tournament happening at that park.

Social media was utilized to make the public aware and help provide any assistance as the investigation continued. Several reports came in of a subject matching his description walking neighborhoods near South Minnesota Avenue and West Laquinta Avenue.

At approximately 8:15 p.m., the juvenile was located safe back in Yankton Trail Park. He had been found walking and was given a ride and dropped off by an unknown good samaritan at Yankton Trail Park. He was reunited with his family who was visiting from out of state.
