Minnehaha County Master Gardeners Assist with Community Tree Inventory
As part of the Emerald Ash Borer response efforts, volunteers from SDSU Extension Minnehaha County Master Gardeners are partnering with Sioux Falls Parks and Recreation to conduct a community inventory of trees growing along city streets.
“There is a real need to gather information on the location, species, and size of trees located in our City’s boulevards,” says Don Kearney, Director of Parks and Recreation. “Information gathered during this tree inventory will be used to help direct the City’s Emerald Ash Borer response activities.”
Beginning July 9, 2018, volunteers will canvas neighborhoods bordered by 12th Street on the north, Cliff Avenue on the east, 57th Street on the south, and Louise Avenue on the west. Volunteers helping with this tree inventory will be wearing a Master Gardener name badge. Community tree inventory efforts are expected to continue throughout the summer.
