City Receives Multiple Proposals for Railyard Redevelopment Area
Last week the City of Sioux Falls received responses to a request for qualifications (RFQ) for an opportunity to redevelop all or parts of the downtown railyard site. The parcels include more than ten acres in the heart of Sioux Falls.
Since the City’s purchase of the property in November 2015, the City has received multiple inquiries regarding the availability of this site for private investment. The City believes this site presents a unique opportunity to continue the emergence of downtown Sioux Falls as a high‑quality urban district.
On March 23, 2017, in response to the RFQ, the City received six unique submittals that conveyed the qualifications of several interested entities. The six entities are:
- 8th & Railroad LLC
- Inland Development Partners
- Legacy Development & Consulting Company LLC
- Lloyd Companies
- Pendar Properties/Cherapa
- Smart.Visions LLC
An invitation to participate in an upcoming request for proposals is expected to be extended to selected submissions this spring, and the first official development will be announced this summer.
“We’re very excited about the response we received to this once-in-a-lifetime redevelopment opportunity in the heart of our downtown,” says Daren Ketcham, Community Development Director. “This redevelopment will impact our city for hundreds of years, and we’re going to be very selective to ensure we move only the most promising proposals forward."
