—Board Vacancies—Building Board of Appeals

Mayor Mike Huether has announced two vacancies to the Building Board of Appeals.

The mission of the Board is to hear and decide appeals of orders, decisions, or determinations made by the building official relative to the application and interpretation of the building, residential and existing building codes, and the fire code. The Board reviews all proposed changes to the respective codes and submits recommendations to the responsible official and the City Council. In addition, the Board reviews requests for house moves, examines applicants for licensing, and investigates matters brought before the Board.

The Board is composed of five members who are appointed to a three-year term by the Mayor with the advice and consent of the City Council. Meetings are held on an as needed basis.

Interested persons should have a strong commitment to public service and to the mission of the Building Board of Appeals. A background in architecture, engineering, or construction is preferred.
