Structure Fire—913 South First Avenue

Sioux Falls Fire Rescue responded to a reported structure fire at 913 South First Avenue at approximately 6 p.m. on Wednesday evening, June 14, 2017. Initial reports indicated the fire was on the first floor of a multifamily residence. Upon arrival, fire crews reported heavy smoke coming from the second floor and roof of the structure. Fire crews forced entry into the structure and evacuated three residents and a cat. Fire crews had the fire under control in approximately 30 minutes after arrival. The structure sustained heavy smoke damage on the first and second floors. There were no civilian or firefighter injuries reported. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

Sioux Falls Fire Rescue responded with five fire apparatus, four support apparatus, and 24 personnel. Sioux Falls Police, the Red Cross, MidAmerican Energy, and Xcel Energy also responded to assist.
