—Board Vacancies—Solid Waste Planning Board

Mayor Mike Huether has announced three vacancies to the Solid Waste Planning Board (SWPB).

The 15-member Board reviews the waste stream of the users of the Sioux Falls Regional Sanitary Landfill and analyzes recycling, alternative methods of disposal, needed ordinance revisions, and public education programs.

Board members are appointed to a three-year term by the Mayor with the advice and consent of the City Council. Board meetings are held on the last Tuesday of the first month of each quarter at 5:30 p.m. at various locations.

We are currently seeking applications for two citizen representatives and one representative from the garbage hauling/recycling industry. Applicants seeking the position of citizen representative must be a citizen of Sioux Falls who has no financial interest in the garbage/recycling industry. Interested persons should have a strong commitment to public service and an interest in sustainable waste management.

Additional information and application forms may be obtained by logging on to www.siouxfalls.org/boards-commissions.
