Arrest Made From Hit-and-Run

On Thursday, April 20, 2017, around 10:30 p.m., a 44-year-old man was crossing North Western Avenue and was injured after being struck by a white Buick Century. The car was turning from West Madison Street onto North Western Avenue and continued driving south after striking the pedestrian. A tip led police to the suspect’s car, and detectives were able to determine the driver was Lydia Consuelo Torres, a 43-year-old Sioux Falls resident.

A warrant was issued on August 8 for hit-and-run (Class 6 felony), no driver’s license, no insurance, failure to yield, and allowing an unlicensed driver to operate a vehicle. Lydia Torres was arrested on August 10 by the Minnehaha County Sheriff’s Office. The warrant carries a $1,500 cash bond.
