The City of Sioux Falls Mourns the Loss of Bob Jamison

The City of Sioux Falls mourns the loss of former City Councilor and Public Utilities Commissioner Bob Jamison. Mr. Jamison passed away yesterday at the age of 86.

“On behalf of my fellow councilors, I want to express my deepest condolences to the family of Bob Jamison,” says Rick Kiley, City Council Chair. “Bob was a good man who served this city with honor and distinction.”

Mr. Jamison was elected as Public Utilities Commissioner in 1989 and served in that capacity until 1994 when he was elected to the City Council under the new Charter form of government. He represented the City as an at-large member until being term limited in 2002. Two years later, he was elected to a four-year term representing Sioux Falls’ Southwest District until 2006.

“Bob Jamison set an example and standard for those of us who serve on the City Council,” says Christine Erickson, City Council Vice Chair. “Our hearts and prayers go out to his beloved family.”

On Tuesday, August 8, the Sioux Falls City Council will formally remember Mr. Jamison at the start of their regular meeting.
