More Events Center Area Development With the Holiday Inn Hotel & Suites and Crooked Pint Ale House at Elmwood Golf Course
Today Sioux Falls officials and Quest Development representatives broke ground on the Holiday Inn Hotel & Suites, attached conference center, and Crooked Pint Ale House restaurant on Elmwood Golf Course. The four-acre site is at the intersection of Russell Street and Western Avenue and is adjacent to the Denny Sanford PREMIER Center.
“This is another big investment and development near our new Events Center, and it takes Elmwood Golf Course to an all new level. A golf resort across the street from the Events Center makes for one great getaway,” says Mayor Mike Huether.
This will be the third hotel to open in the Sports and Entertainment District since the PREMIER Center broke ground in 2012. The development is projected to have 116 hotel rooms, restaurant seating for 200, and conference capacity for 300. The additional full-service hotel strengthens the city’s ability to secure future NCAA Men’s Division I Tournaments and more.
“We are excited to begin construction on this state-of-the-art Holiday Inn and Crooked Pint Ale House. The project, which is adjacent to the Denny Sanford PREMIER Center, will be a great place for friends and family to stay when visiting the Sioux Falls area. The hotel will have all the amenities guests are accustomed to, and the unique and impressive design will be a great addition to the Sioux Falls community,” says Kevin Weisbeck, President for Quest Development.
The development will be constructed for an estimated cost of $12 million and will provide further economic benefits for our community totaling about $40 million in lease payments and other revenue for the city, school district, county, state, and Sioux Falls Convention & Visitors Bureau over the course of its 50-year lease.
Maintaining cohesion with the golf course was a major factor in this partnership, and golf themed features will be included in the development. Features include dedicated golf cart parking, additional driving range access, “stay-and-play” packages, and a partnership with the first-ever South Dakota Golf Association Hall of Fame for its exhibition hall.
The hotel and restaurant are scheduled to open by fall 2017.
