Local Author to Share Story of Loss and Healing
After the loss of her brother to suicide, Mary Ellen Dirksen writes, “I was hurting in deep places I hadn’t known existed, feeling scared and hopeless.” She found it difficult to find joy in life, a state that lasted years.
Then one day, she discovered examining the past was a way to move forward. That realization prompted her to write a book, “The Swing Set,” about how she moved away from despair. She’ll talk about those experiences at 7 p.m. Wednesday, December 14, 2016, at Siouxland Libraries Ronning Branch, 3100 East 49th Street.
The 90-minute program is free and open to the public. No registration is required.
