Tattoo shops and the artists who work in them must be licensed by the city and state, according to City Ordinance Chapter 122. All body-art studios are inspected by the state to ensure a clean and safe environment in compliance with sanitation laws.
Chapter 122 of the City of Sioux Falls Code of Ordinances governs tattoo licensure for tattoo artists and establishments.

Attach a copy of identification, such as driver’s license or Government-Issued ID, for proof of age. (Must also include individual applicant’s height, weight, eye and hair color, and sex.)
