Sioux Falls Human Relations Commission 2008 Humanitarian Award Recipients

The Sioux Falls Human Relations Commission is pleased to announce that Nathan and Suzanne Anderson are the joint recipients of this year’s Humanitarian Award. The Andersons were selected from a total of 15 very deserving nominees and were announced as this year’s winners on Tuesday evening, September 23, 2008, at a reception held at the historic Orpheum Theater Center.

2008 Recipients; Nathan and Suzanne Anderson

Over the course of 30 years of married life, the Andersons have devoted themselves to helping children. As foster parents, they have cared for children from many different cultures and with complex and difficult health needs. They have opened their home and provided love and nurturing to these special children, sometimes under difficult and trying circumstances. They have given hope to children who had none and have made a profound difference in their lives. Nathan and Suzanne are committed humanitarians and this award provides recognition from a grateful community.

The Sioux Falls Human Relations Commission annually seeks nominees for the Humanitarian Award. Nominees are people who work tirelessly for the equality and welfare of others and have contributed to the growth and development of opportunity for all citizens of our community.

The Humanitarian Award process begins each year with a public call for nominations followed by the awards presentation and reception.
