The Downtown Boundary is all encompassing and references each of the following districts:
- Central Business District (CBD)
- Business Improvement District (BID)
- Urban Renewal District
- Downtown Design Review District
In January of 2006 the Sioux Falls City Council approved the expansion of the downtown boundary, including Falls Park, N. Main Avenue and the Phillips to the Falls corridor all within the official downtown area.
