Sioux Falls Fire Rescue responded at approximately 10:00 p.m. to a structure fire at 608 South Dakota Avenue.
First arriving crews found smoke coming from a three story apartment building. Firefighters entered the building, searched for residents, and fought the fire. The fire was under control in approximately sixty minutes. The structure sustained smoke damage throughout and fire damage to the first and second floor.
The residents were outside the building before fire units arrived on scene. The Red Cross was on scene to assist with lodging for the residents.
Sioux Falls Fire Rescue responded with 3 support vehicles, 6 fire trucks, and 28 firefighters. There were no civilian or firefighter injuries. The building did not have a sprinkler system. The cause of the fire is under investigation. |
