The City of Sioux Falls Regional Sanitary Landfill has constructed a special disposal area for deer and elk carcasses.
Deer and elk carcasses must be separated from other domestic solid waste materials. This applies to both commercial accounts that provide animal processing, as well as individuals who process their own deer and elk.
A special container will be in place at the landfill for private individuals who need to dispose of their deer and elk carcasses. The container will be available during regular landfill hours. It should be stressed that residents who will be utilizing a private hauler to dispose of deer and elk carcasses must have the bag containing the carcasses clearly labeled and marked as such.
Commercial amounts or amounts greater than ten (10) will be accepted by the landfill based on weather conditions; the landfill must be contacted before commercial loads are delivered for approval prior to disposal. The rates for disposing of deer and elk carcasses are as follows:
