Sioux Falls Fire Rescue responded at approximately 1:00 a.m. to a house fire at 6808 West 7th Street. First arriving crews found smoke coming from a single story house.

Firefighters entered the house and the fire was under control in approximately fifteen minutes. The house sustained smoke damage throughout and fire damage in the kitchen area.
The residents were outside the house before fire units arrived on scene. The residents were sleeping in the basement when a smoke detector alerted them to the fire.The Red Cross responded to the scene.

Sioux Falls Fire Rescue responded with 2 support vehicles, 3 fire trucks, and 15 firefighters. There were no civilian or firefighter injuries. The house did not have a residential sprinkler system. The fire started in the kitchen area. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
