On November 6, 2009, at 1:09 a.m., Metro Communications dispatched Police, Sioux Falls Fire Rescue, and Rural/Metro Ambulance to 41st Street and Western Avenue for a car/pedestrian hit and run accident.
Responding units located a male lying in the roadway just west of the intersection, unresponsive and bleeding. Witnesses at the scene stated the male was crossing 41st Street northbound and was struck by a westbound smaller black car, possibly a Pontiac. That vehicle, believed to have driver’s side headlight damage, did not stop and was last seen continuing westbound on 41st Street at a high rate of speed.
The victim was transported to Sanford ER with life-threatening injuries.

At 8:20 a.m. November 6, 2009, Sioux Falls Police were contacted by an alert citizen regarding a hit-and-run vehicle that had been reported earlier in the morning.
Sioux Falls Police Traffic Investigators responded to the 2900 block of south Louise Avenue and were able to determine that the vehicle in question had been involved in the injury hit-and-run at 41st Street and Western Avenue. During the course of the investigation, the driver at the time of the collision was located, interviewed, and arrested.
Arrested was Eric A. Oldre, a 29-year-old Sioux Falls resident. He was charged with driving while intoxicated, 3rd offense; leaving the scene of an injury accident; and vehicular battery. He was lodged in the Minnehaha County Jail.
The victim, 21-year-old Beau F. Brady of Yankton, is in serious condition at a local hospital. The investigation is continuing. |
