At approximately 11:09 p.m. on October 31st, 2009 Sioux Falls Fire Rescue responded to a structure fire at 529 North Cliff Avenue. First arriving units reported smoke coming from the structure. Upon entering the structure firefighters found a mattress on fire. The fire was quickly extinguished. There was fire damage to the bedroom and smoke damage to the rest of the house. The resident was out of the structure when Sioux Falls Fire Rescue arrived. There were no injuries reported. The structure did have smoke detectors and they were working when Sioux Falls Fire Rescue arrived. The house did not have a residential sprinkler system.

Sioux Falls Fire Rescue responded with four fire trucks, 3 support vehicles, and nineteen firefighters.
