Starting Monday (May 19), the South Dakota Department of Transportation will begin reconstruction of Highway 11 from 26th Street to Hwy 42/Arrowhead Parkway.
Crews will replace the existing two-lane asphalt surface with a four-lane concrete surface with turning lanes and median.
Work will begin with construction of the southbound lanes. Hwy 11 will be closed to through traffic. Traffic will be detoured to 26th Street, Sycamore Ave., and Arrowhead Parkway.
Upon completion of the southbound lanes, traffic will be switched from the detour route to the new lanes and maintained head-to-head while work continues on the northbound lanes.
Access will be maintained for local residents during the entire reconstruction project.
The reconstruction of Hwy 11 is expected to be completed by the end of October.
The prime contractor is T&R Contracting of Sioux Falls.
