Title: Sioux Falls Transit Passes Safety Goal

Sioux Falls Transit has passed a goal in safe driving that deserves recognition.

Sioux Falls Transit employs 100-plus employees and averages approximately 105,000 miles each month. The employees of Sioux Falls Transit have gone more than five months with only one reportable accident. A reportable accident is one in which the Sioux Falls Transit driver would be at fault for the accident. A remarkable record considering the weather conditions this past winter.

Randy Hartman, Driver Development and Safety Manager, has been in his position for the past five years and has never seen such a remarkable record! John Nardini, General Manager of Sioux Falls Transit, has been at Sioux Falls Transit for nearly six years and agrees that the past five months are pretty remarkable.

“Considering the weather conditions, icy and snow-packed streets and parking lots that our drivers deal with every day during the winter months, it is absolutely wonderful that we can establish a record such as this,” said Nardini. “This is more than a record for drivers, but for all the employees who keep the vehicles safe and in prime operating order, for supervisors and dispatchers who keep the buses moving safely, and for all managers who make and administer safe driving policies.”

Nardini and Hartman would like to thank all employees of Sioux Falls Transit for their professionalism and hard work. In appreciation of a job well done by all employees, Sioux Falls Transit management is planning a Safety Pep Rally cookout this month.
