WHITTIER NEIGHBORHOOD LANDOWNERS/RESIDENTS

Public Open House for Street Reconstruction on Indiana Avenue from 4th Street to 8th Street, Intersection Reconstruction at Franklin Avenue and 5th Street, and Street Reconstruction on Nesmith
Avenue from 5th Street to 6th Street.

The above mentioned streets will be reconstructed in 2008 as part of the City of Sioux Falls Neighborhood Improvements Program. Zacharias Construction of Hartford, SD will be the general contractor for the project. It is anticipated that construction will begin in mid April and be completed by August I5, 2008.

In order for you to discuss the project with company representatives and the City of Sioux Falls, a Public Open House will be held at the Whittier Middle School auditorium from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday April 1, 2008. Please use the main entrance Administration "A" off of Fairfax Avenue when entering the school. Parking space will be available in the lot on the East side of Fairfax Avenue.

Typically, the project consists of removing and replacing the concrete street section with new concrete curb and gutter and asphalt street surfacing. Additional work will include the following:

• Remove and replace driveway approaches from back of curb to sidewalk.
• Remove and replace handicap access ramps at all intersections.
• Remove and replace boulevard sidewalk from back of curb to 6' behind curb. Residents may have their boulevard sidewalk removed in its entirety and replaced with seed if so desired.

The reconstruction work will require a complete road closure, with no access available to residents. Residents will be required to park on adjacent side streets or back alleys. The project's time schedule for construction will be kept to a minimum and every effort will be made to complete the project in a timely manner with the least inconvenience possible to the property owners.
