Title: Transit as an Option to Beat High Gas Prices

Riding the bus can save you money by spending less on gas, parking fees, and maintenance on your vehicle.

Sioux Falls Transit runs 12 routes in the Sioux Falls area, serving a large portion of the city. The cost is $1 per ride or a monthly pass can be purchased for $25 which provides unlimited rides.

If you do not live near a bus route, you can do one of two things: You can ride your bike to the nearest bus stop, load your bike on the rack on the front of the bus, and proceed on the bus to your destination. Another option is to drive your car to the Southwest Transfer Station on Louise Avenue, park your car there for free, and board the bus to your destination.

The buses leave from The Bus Stop downtown at 5:45 a.m., Monday through Friday, with final pickups between 7 and 7:30 each evening. There is Saturday service as well.

If you are concerned that you do not know how to use the transit system, transit staff is here to help you. Travel training is available upon request by calling 367-7874.
