Title: Cycling Race Supports City Bicycling Plan

Sioux Falls first bike race will take place this Sunday, an event that transportation planners say supports the City’s long-term efforts to encourage more cycling in Sioux Falls.

Called a Criterium, the event will take a 1-mile closed route through downtown Sioux Falls and involve several race divisions and age groups, starting at 8:15 am on Sunday, August 24. Races will loop the course for a period of 20 to 60 minutes in length depending on the division. In addition, there will be a special free kids race (1 short lap) with prizes for all entrants beginning at 11:30 am.

"This community event will be a great way for people to learn more about cycling and to see some of the sport’s best in our area," said Transportation Planner Sam Trebilcock. "I would encourage anyone to take part, either as a participant or a spectator."
